The Bromelton Energy and Resource Centre (BERC) is an $800 million Energy-from-Waste facility located in the Bromelton State Development Area (SDA). Through planning and project advisory services, Therefor Group is proud to support this pivotal initiative and lead the policy change agenda across the waste management, energy, and resource recovery sectors.
We supported Cleanaway during the due diligence and site acquisition phase. Our collaborative approach has been key to facilitating government agency engagement, coordinating the project approval strategy, and supporting the complex technical assessment framework. Through our contribution to stakeholder communications, we apply leadership with integrity to help deliver an enduring social license to operate – building investment confidence.
BERC aligns with the Queensland Government’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy by diverting residual waste from landfill and transforming it into valuable, sustainable energy in the form of steam and electricity. The process also recovers other valuable resources, such as construction aggregates and metals.
This project will help power the Queensland economy and support the creation of local jobs and services. It enhances energy security and broadens the energy supply base through proven technologies that uphold high environmental standards.
