Sector/Discipline

As we stepped into 2025 with a bold new brand and renewed purpose, one thing remained constant: our unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and leading change. At the heart of this commitment is ThereforHER – our revitalised initiative dedicated to empowering women across our organisation and industry.

Established in 2018 as Women of Wolters (WOW), the initiative was co-founded by Natalie Rayment with a vision to create a space where women could connect, grow, and lead. What began as a grassroots movement for staff, has since evolved into a powerful platform for shared strength and collective impact. Now known as ThereforHER, the initiative brings together women from across our multidisciplinary teams, creating a vibrant and supportive network that continues to grow.

A Pivotal Annual Celebration

One of the most anticipated moments in our calendar is our International Women’s Day (IWD) event, held every March. What started as a small gathering has grown into a flagship celebration that brings together not only our team, but also our clients, industry colleagues, and community partners.

Each year, the event gets bigger, bolder, and more impactful. In 2024, we were honoured to welcome Karni Liddell, one of Australia’s most successful Paralympians, as our keynote speaker. In 2025, we hosted the event in our brand-new head office, featuring a panel of fierce and inspirational women from across our network. These events are more than just celebrations – they’re moments of reflection, empowerment, and action.

Supporting Women Beyond the Workplace

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends beyond our office walls. One of our core values is citizenship – the belief that we have a responsibility to support and uplift the communities we’re part of. That’s why, every March, alongside our International Women’s Day celebration, we proudly support Share the Dignity through their March Dignity Drive.

This incredible initiative provides period products to women and girls, supporting those who are experiencing or at risk of domestic violence, homelessness, or poverty. By donating, we help ensure that those in vulnerable situations have access to the essentials they need – because dignity should never be a luxury.

Our Brisbane office proudly serves as an official collection point for the March Dignity Drive, and each year we invite our staff, clients, and IWD event guests to contribute. It’s a simple yet powerful way to make a tangible difference, and it speaks to our ongoing commitment to supporting women’s charities and causes that truly matter.

Through this partnership, and through ThereforHER, we’re not just celebrating women – we’re standing beside them, advocating for them, and helping build a future where everyone can thrive.

A Culture That Walks the Talk

At Therefor Group, we don’t just talk about inclusion and leading change – we live it. As of 2025, 50% of our workforce is female, with women represented across all levels, age groups, and ethnicities. Our leadership team also reflects this balance, with 50% female representation across disciplines. These numbers are a testament to the inclusive culture we’ve built and the framework we’ve put in place to support equity in the workplace.

Leadership with Purpose

Visible female leadership is a cornerstone of the ThereforHER mission. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, leaders like Amy Marsden and Natalie Rayment are not only breaking barriers – but they’re also actively creating space for others to rise. Both women are passionate champions of younger staff, consistently mentoring and encouraging emerging professionals to speak up, contribute, and be heard.

In 2025, Amy Marsden was named a finalist for the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) Queensland Women in Planning Award, recognising her advocacy and influence in shaping inclusive communities. Natalie Rayment received a Judges Commendation for the Industry Impact Award at the People in Property Awards, celebrating over 30 years of leadership and achievement.

Their leadership sends a powerful message: diverse perspectives are essential to building better cities and stronger communities. Through their example, and through the ThereforHER initiative, we continue to foster a culture of shared strength, collective impact, and inclusive leadership – where every voice has value and every contribution matters.

Mentoring the Next Generation

A cornerstone of ThereforHER is our commitment to mentorship, encouragement, and support – especially for our emerging professionals who are beginning to explore leadership, public speaking, and industry engagement. We know that stepping into the spotlight can be daunting, but it’s also a powerful opportunity for growth. That’s why we create safe, supportive spaces where early-career team members can build confidence and gain experience.

At our 2025 International Women’s Day event, we were proud to see this in action. Steph Kline, Assistant Planner at Therefor Group, joined our panel of inspirational women, sharing her insights and representing the next generation of thought leaders. Olivia Hayward, from our Project Delivery team, took on the role of MC, guiding the event with warmth, professionalism, and energy. These moments reflect our belief that when we nurture talent and provide opportunities, we help shape the future of our industry.

Through ThereforHER, and our emerging professional’s initiative TEPnet, we continue to invest in mentoring opportunities, leadership development, and storytelling platforms that empower our team to grow, speak up, and lead with confidence.

Looking Ahead

ThereforHER is more than an initiative – it’s a movement. It’s about creating opportunities, challenging norms, and building a workplace where everyone can thrive. Whether it’s through mentoring, storytelling, or our annual IWD celebration, we’re committed to driving meaningful change.

As we look to the future, we’re excited to continue expanding ThereforHER, collaborating with our network, and finding new ways to support and celebrate women in our industry.

If you have an idea or initiative we can work on together, we’d love to hear from you!
