Set within Springfield’s evolving urban landscape, Robelle Domain Stage 3 is a bold extension of the city’s recreational trail network – linking Orion Lagoon to the future Jubilee Parklands through a vibrant, 15,000sqm linear park. 

Ipswich City Council engaged Therefor Group’s Landscape Architecture and Environment Teams to help shape a space that balances recreation, cultural storytelling, and ecological sensitivity. From the outset, our design approach was grounded in place, people, and purpose – transforming an underutilised corridor into a connected, inclusive, and future-ready parkland. 

Strategically located between Sinnathamby Boulevard and Barry Alexander Way, the park offers a mix of active and passive experiences: formal walking and cycling paths, activation nodes with exercise and parkour elements, and striking public art installations. Key gateways and the underpass are brought to life through lighting, colour, and dual-language signage that honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. 

Environmental stewardship was central to the design. A natural stormwater channel and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) elements support habitat restoration and ecological health. Inspired by White Rock Spring Mountain Conservation Reserve, the planting palette features native grasses, shrubs, and shade trees – enhancing biodiversity while maintaining open sightlines. 

Durable, low-maintenance materials are softened with turf and planting, aligning with Robelle Domain’s established character. Through collaboration with stakeholders and cultural representatives, the project delivers a parkland that celebrates heritage, encourages active lifestyles, and strengthens Springfield’s identity.
