The future growth of Cairns is a complex process that requires balancing values against economic and environmental targets.
As one of the few first-world cities situated in a wet tropics environment, Cairns faces unique and challenging growth issues. Therefore Group, along with our partners, was engaged to assist Cairns Regional Council in understanding the potential changes needed to ensure the city and its surroundings achieve economic goals while preserving its unique local environmental qualities over the next 35 years.
The study’s critical findings focus on the value and role of blue-green elements in guiding future decision-making. It also emphasizes the importance of reflecting our relationship with the land as custodians, honouring the values of traditional owners, and ensuring that the place we create is one that future communities will value.
