Project Overview
Therefor Group was instrumental in the redevelopment of a key catalyst site within the Gasworks precinct in Newstead. Haven is a first-of-its-kind, 25-storey high-rise development comprising more than 220 apartments and penthouses. Sitting above a vibrant 1,100m2 ground level centre, Haven incorporates commercial, retail, dining, and entertainment uses.
As a true “inner city urban sanctuary”, Haven embraces the Brisbane lifestyle and subtropical living, with a rooftop terrace and pool, and city-to-river views.
Therefor Group was involved in the project from its inception, from providing due diligence to securing development approval, and continued management of the application process until project completion. Our planners developed a streamlined and efficient approval process through early involvement in project design and application strategy.
Project Outcomes
Therefor was responsible for achieving the following deliverables:
- Due diligence planning services to lock down project parameters and minimise client risk.
- Input to project design and application strategy, culminating in a streamlined and timely approval process
- Coordination and preparation of comprehensive development application which reconciled key planning matters and minimised information request requirements
- Management of application during construction program to respond to market and technical opportunities and challenges
- Preparing an application strategy and response for a site within an existing preliminary approval
- Designing a fit-for-purpose project strategy to ensure a timely approval to unlock catalyst land
- Managing and addressing site-specific challenges, including contamination from previous industrial uses

- Community dividend: mixed-use precinct with a range of retail, commercial, dining, and entertainment uses, as well as residential – catering to residents, local workers, visitors, etc.
- Innovation: an early innovator for rooftop terraces in Brisbane, enhancing connections from the site to the CBD, Brisbane River, and Waterfront Park
